GRADING SYSTEM
Grades are issued each trimester and reflect the teacher’s evaluation of students’ contribution in class, their performance on tests and their preparation of outside assignments, including independent projects. The grades represent a record of their scholastic achievement.
The marking system for Kindergarten through Grade 2 is:
E = Exceeds Expectations
M = Meets Expectations
PM= Partially Meets Expectations
DNM = Does Not Meet Expectations
The marking system for Grades 1 & 2 is:
E = Exceeds Expectations
M = Meets Expectations
PM= Partially Meets Expectations
DNM = Does Not Meet Expectations
The marking system for Grades 3 through 8 is:
A (100-90) Excellent work, showing originality through preparation and understanding.
A+ 98-100
A 93-97
A- 90-92
B (89-80) Above average, shows a good record of achievement.
B+ 87-89
B 83-86
B- 80-82
C (79-70) Average, shows satisfactory completion of course requirements.
C+ 77-79
C 73-76
C- 70-72
D (69-65) Passing but indicates a student seems to lack proper foundation in the subject to proceed in a sequential program.
D+ 68-69
D 67
D- 65-66
F (64-Below) Failing; frequently indicates a lack of effort and suggests a student may have severe future difficulty in related subjects.
I (Incomplete) At teacher’s discretion, an incomplete grade may be assigned to a student when an extended excused absence has not allowed sufficient time to complete make-up work. After a two-week extension, grades may be changed to an F if work is still not completed.
REPORT CARDS
Report cards are distributed three (3) times during the school year so that parents are informed regarding their child’s success or failure to maintain grade level. We ask that you study your child’s report card carefully and note any particular weakness, so that you may guide him/her in improving in this particular subject.
If the report card indicates that a parent‐teacher conference is requested, please contact the teacher without delay.
Report card slips must be signed and returned within one week after reception, except at the end of the school year.
