St. Michael School is committed to giving of ourselves to community in service. In 2010, students raised more than $3,000 in one week for Haitian Relief Services and a local agency to help those in need. In 2011, students brought in more than 2,000 items of paper goods and other essential items for Bread of Life Ministry and The Home for Little Wanderers. In February of 2013, students donated items for the Maine Chapter "Make A Wish" Foundation's Wish Closet.
Healthy Living Depends on a Healthy Spirit of Giving
Students of St. Michael School participated in their annual Penny Pool the week of March 18, 2013 and raised a total of $1,700.00. The Penny Pool takes place every March and students save their pennies all year long with anticipation. Classroom competitions help students make a difference in their community. Reaching out to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care by donating pennies is all part of laying the foundation for the students to become good citizens in their communities.
Spirit of VolunteerismSmall acts of giving are also important. Our students are regularly active in volunteer initiatives throughout the community. Spirit, compassion, service and enthusiasm for learning are integral to a St. Michael School education. Our community service projects reach locally and globally.
